July 17, 2006: Fan-tasia.net interviewed Shellita Boxie (Roles: Fantasia's stand-in, three different extras )

Hi Shellita! You play a few different parts. What was your favorite moment of filming?
Shellita: My favorite moment of filming was during the church scene when Fantasia return home to her family. Every one on the set was transported to that day as if it were happening all over again. It was so awesome to see and everyone cried. The funny part is, after the crying and clapping was over, Debbie Allen yelled "That was beautiful, now let's get it on tape." Laughter filled the air.
Fandash: That is too funny!

Fandash: How far is Plaisance from New Orleans, and what was it like being there after Hurricane Katrina?
Shellita: My home town of Plaisance/Opelousas Louisiana is 3 hours from New Orleans. This was a trip I made twice a week in order to see my daughter on my two days off. She traveled with me from Florida because I could not imagine being without her for that long. Lucky for me, my family loved having her spend that time with them so that I can "Do My Thang."

The first thing I did after arriving in New Orleans was tour the city. My Uncle, who still resides there, took me to the 9th ward which was hit the worst. My heart filled with anger and pain. Almost a year later, the writing on the walls were clear that it will be a long time before the Big Easy is anything but easy. My last trip there was filled with festivity and excitement during the Bayou Classics.

People filled the highways and byways with hope in their eyes of having a good time. As I walked the quarters this trip I saw hope, but this time for a better future. I took pictures to store in my personal history books for my daughter to see when she grows up.

Fandash: Thank you for taking us there. I hope people always remember what happened to our brothers and sisters there.

Fandash: What is one thing everybody should look out for when the movie comes out?
Shellita: Me of course.
Fandash: :)
Shellita: Besides working as her stand-in and personal trainer on set, I appear three times in the movie as three different people. I am not going to say who but if fans to find me, I will give them a free... (Editor's note: check the forums to find out!)

Fandash: That's great! I saw the article where it says Fantasia lost 15 pounds! Sounds like it was thanks to you! Great job and we look forward to spotting you in The Fantasia Barrino Story: Life is not a Fairy Tale!
